Civitai Gallery Explorer
What it is
An open-source ComfyUI custom node pack that browses the Civitai gallery inside your graph, sends prompts, preview images and LoRA metadata to downstream nodes, and safely auto-downloads missing LoRAs.
I built Civitai Gallery Explorer, an open-source ComfyUI custom node pack that puts the Civitai image gallery inside a node. You filter and scroll through posts, save favorites on disk, and send the selected positive prompt, negative prompt, preview image and LoRA metadata into the rest of your Stable Diffusion workflow.
Result
The pack is published on the Comfy Registry as `civitai-gallery-explorer` with about 1.4K downloads. Artists can browse Civitai inside ComfyUI and feed selected posts straight into their workflows.
The problem
Jumping between the Civitai website and ComfyUI breaks the creative loop. Prompts get copied by hand and LoRAs go missing. I wanted artists to search, pick a post and wire its prompts and LoRAs into the graph without leaving ComfyUI, with downloads that stay safe on disk.
What it does
- An infinite-scroll gallery with masonry, grid and list layouts
- Filters for username, base model, tag, sort, period, NSFW level and page size, plus toggles for video-only, prompt-only, unique prompts and favorites
- Click-to-fill outputs for
positive_prompt,negative_prompt, the preview image andlora_data - A Civitai LoRA Loader node that resolves LoRA names, version ids and hashes, then applies them with ComfyUI's LoRA loader
- Optional auto-download of missing LoRAs with resume, retries, TLS verification and an optional Civitai API key
- Local favorites stored next to the node
How it's built
- A Python node backend with a JavaScript frontend extension for the gallery UI
- Hardening with request timeouts and size limits, public-URL checks, LoRA downloads that stay inside the LoRA folder and atomic favorites writes
- A package loader that works under any folder name, and tests that load the package the way ComfyUI does
- CI, Ruff linting and registry metadata, with automated publishing to the Comfy Registry. MIT licensed
Install
Install it from ComfyUI Manager (search "CivitAI Gallery Explorer"), with comfy node install civitai-gallery-explorer, or by cloning the repo into ComfyUI/custom_nodes.
